You guessed it. On this page you will find answers
to some of the most frequently asked questions. Got a question not
answered here? Please
e-mail reca@tcfn.org.
1. What is the idea?
The RECA (Realizing
Every Community Asset) Foundation mission is to bridge the digital
divide and get technology into the hands of the less fortunate. RECA
runs many programs from recycling, computer re-use, training,
maintenance, upkeep, technology planning for non-profits, database
management, and hosting and maintenance of websites for non-profits.
The President of RECA Foundation is Ronda Evans a long time member
of Kiwanis Club of the
Tri-City Industry and hosts and maintains their website at
https://www.tcfn.org/kiwanistci/ .
Kiwanis is a service agency and their mission is to serve the
children of the world. RECA Foundation developed this fund raiser to
help Kiwanis raise funds to serve the children and those needing
help in
our area. RECA Foundation is able to develop this fund raiser
with little over head, making sure that 75% of the funds go to the
Kiwanis Tri-City Industry Club, Tri-Cities, Washington State, and
25% go to the RECA Foundation programs to bridge the digital divide.
2. Who are you?

Industry Club members and programs at

3. How did you come up with the
idea?
The idea came from "The Million Dollar Homepage"
that sold 1,000,000 pixels for $1 each. See
http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com
The funds for the Million Dollar Homepage went to a young man
attending collage to pay for his collage expenses.
4. How will the funds be used?
The RECA Foundation and the
Kiwanis Tri-Cities Industry Club Foundation are both 501(c)3's,
non-profits. Kiwanis service club sponsors many programs to
help the community and especially the children of the community.
RECA Foundation mission is to provide technology access, training,
and equipment to low income families, non-profits, and other
organizations. Each will use the funds to help the community members
succeed.
5. What will you do with the money?
75% of the proceeds will go to Kiwanis, where the Kiwanis Foundation
and Kiwanis membership will determine the best use of the funds to
support their current and new programs.
25% of the proceeds will go to RECA Foundation to support their
programs.
6. Why should I buy your tiles?
The tiles do a couple of things. First they bring about a
great deal of awareness of what Kiwanis does in the world. Each tile
will be linked to the Kiwanis Club website that sponsors the event
or to a business that belongs to Kiwanis, or wishes to see Kiwanis
become a household word.
Second the proceeds will go back to the Kiwanis to help the
children.
7. Why can't I buy one a smaller
tile?
RECA Foundation decided that although it would probably be cool if
individuals could buy a single pixel each, in practice, it wouldn't
be so effective. The reason I believe this is because you can't display
anything meaningful in one pixel - nor click it easily - so
visually, it would be pointless. With thousands of random tiny
colored dots all over the place, the homepage would look ghastly.
RECA also thought that the site would appeal more to Kiwanians to
advertise than it would to individuals, or to put it more
accurately, Kiwanians would pay more to have a meaningful graphic on
the homepage. See sample tiles. Hence the minimum purchase is $500 - a 60x 60 block.
However! If you really want to own a single pixel, there is
always the option of clubbing together with your Kiwanian
friends/family/colleagues and buying a 60x60 block.
8. How long will the site be online?
The site will be online for a minimum of 2
years guaranteed, 2 years after the purchase of the last tile.
9. Is this page licensed by Kiwanis
International?
Yes, Kiwanis International will receive 5% of the total funds
raised on this project. Should other Kiwanis Clubs wish to
develop a website to promote Kiwanis and raise funds, please contact
the info@KiwanisHelpsKids.org.
